Impact Morocco: A blend of magic & impact
Educational project completed with help of 50 volunteers from Dubai
In May 2022, Fathers And Kids Camping traveled to Morocco where we joined hands with Amis des Ecole in delivering Impact Morocco 2022, our seventh impact project since 2018.
The rural regions in Morocco that Amis des Ecole operates in have schools in various states of disrepair. The NGO works with the local administration and teachers to determine the unique educational needs of each village and then employs a local workforce to repair the classrooms, install electricity, repair doors and windows, paint and install desks and fixtures.
Hand in hand with Ami Des Ecole, the local community and a local contractor, 11 families from Dubai traveled to Asni where we built an outdoor classroom with a capacity for 60 children, a dining room, toilet block, and a new garden.
The trip also involved a 16 km hike to Oussertek where some of the students live. There, the children from Dubai were able to interact and witness what the local children experienced on a daily basis. It was a humbling experience.
The project was made possible thanks to the funding from corporate sponsors and the travelling families. Together we pooled MAD 303,000 (USD 33,000) which went towards covering the construction materials and the local contractor's fees.
In particular, we are grateful to the following partners for their generous support:
ElbOil, Squire Patton Boggs, HPS, Raddison Blu Marrakech and Sew Uniforms.
Our next impact project will take place in the small rural town of Mbale, eastern Uganda. The trip will be in October 2022. Registration opens on August 25, 2022. Stay tuned for more details.
